The WWE Draft begins this Friday on SmackDown, is it time for a change of scenery for the Monday Night Messiah?
If there is anyone that needs to change brands this week – it is Seth Rollins. Since Monday Night Raw and SmackDown were split, in 2016, he has been burning it down on Monday nights – having great feuds with the likes of Dolph Ziggler, Braun Strowman, Brock Lesnar, Kevin Owens, and Rey Mysterio. When he called himself “Monday Night Rollins” – it was more than a catchphrase, he was the staple of the show, but all good things come to an end.
WWE shaking things up has come at the perfect time for Seth Rollins – he is in desperate need of something different. He has done everything he can do on Raw – over the past four years. From passionate babyface to patronizing heel – the former four-time world champion has excelled in every situation he's been in however he feels stale on the red brand.
So far this year – Seth Rollins has challenged for the WWE Championship, he lost to Drew McIntrye at WWE Money in the Bank, recently he's been embroiled in a bitter feud with Rey Mysterio.
Their issues began in April, Seth Rollins has terrorized the Mysterio family ever since. The Monday Night Messiah 'removed' Rey's eye, attacked his son Dominick and 'exposed' the relationship between Aalyah (Rey's daughter) and Murphy. After recent events – it looks like Seth Rollins and Murphy have imploded, as Murphy finally grew tired of his Messiah's behavior and snapped at him on the latest edition of Monday Night Raw. Seth Rollins is eligible for night one of the draft, so WWE should book him to lost to Murphy on this weeks SmackDown. Due to Murphy's relationship with Aalyah – he could 'represent' the Mysterio family, Rey is injured at the moment so he can't face Seth Rollins himself. The Mysterio's deserve a happy ending and sending Seth Rollins away to Friday night with a defeat would be just that. This conflict has gone on for too long – everyone involved needs to move on to something different, especially Seth Rollins.
On SmackDown – there are so many new dynamics for Seth Rollins. He could re-align with Roman Reigns, feud with new superstars, or start a new faction. The new feuds depend on who is drafted over the two nights – but Jeff Hardy, Big E, Matt Riddle, and Jey Uso would be fresh rivals for the 2019 Royal Rumble winner. Matches with any of those three would be brilliant, the possibilities of who he faces next are exciting – something that hasn't be said for the majority of his six-month program with Rey Mysterio.
While his brand needs to change – Seth Rollins gimmick must remain, he should not turn face. The future 'Friday Night Messiah' would improve SmackDown, imagine him verbally running Jeff Hardy down – for his previous lifestyle choices. Other than his former Shield partner, SmackDown lacks top-level heels, Seth Rollins is the man to fill that void.
The draft can be unpredictable at times, one obvious thing is the need to move Seth Rollins to the blue brand.
